Dr. Tarek Khalil President & Provost
Dr. Khalil is a Professor of Management of Technology. He has held the rank of tenured professor of Industrial Engineering at the University of Miami since 1977. He also held a secondary appointment at the rank of professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Professor of Epidemiology and Public Health and Professor in the Department of Neurological Surgery at the University of Miami. Dr. Khalil received his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from Texas Tech University in 1969. He holds a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Cairo and a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering from Texas Tech University. Dr. Khalil is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Florida as well as in the Syndicate of Engineers in Egypt. He has been involved with the higher education system in the USA for 40 years. Dr. Khalil’s experience includes serving as Chairman of the Department of Industrial Engineering at the University of Miami for 10 years and as Dean of the Graduate School at the University of Miami. He has also served as the Director of the Management of Technology Program, the Environmental Health and Safety Program and the Ergonomics and Bioengineering Division of the Comprehensive Pain and Rehabilitation Center. He has developed and directed many engineering and interdisciplinary programs within the University of Miami including the joint MBA/MSIE, The Management of Technology, and the Occupational Safety and Health programs. He is the Founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the International Association for Management of Technology (IAMOT), an association with membership from more than 80 countries. He has also served as Chairman of the Council of Fellows of the Institute of Industrial Engineers, as Vice President of the Institute for the Southeast Region and as Director of the Work Measurement and Methods Engineering Division. Dr. Khalil has served as a consultant to governments, industry and educational institutions worldwide for many years. He is nationally and internationally recognized in the areas of Management of Technology, Industrial Engineering and Ergonomics having received many national and international awards in his fields.

Dr. Amr Mortagy
Vice President for Student Affairs
Dean - School of Business
Dr. Mortagy is currently Professor of Business, Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of the School of Business at Nile University. From the year 2000 to 2006, He was Dean of the School of Business, Economics and Communication at the American University in Cairo. Prior to this; he was Dean of the College of Business and Economics at the United Arab Emirates University from 1994 to 1996. Dr. Mortagy has been in academic administration for the last twenty five years including, Dean of Business for two schools and Director of a Management Center. Since the early 90’s Dr. Mortagy has given a lot of his time, professional expertise and extensive experience as a seasoned academic administrator to the evaluation and local/international accreditation of business schools/programs. During this period Dr. Mortagy lead the efforts which resulted in awarding accreditation by AACSB-International to two business schools; the College of Business and Economics at The United Arab Emirates University (2000) and the School of Business, Economics and Communication at the American University in Cairo (2006). In addition Dr. Mortagy is currently involved as accreditation consultant to two business schools and has evaluated for local and/or international accreditation five additional schools, all in the Middle East. Dr. Mortagy has also been a frequent speaker and trainer on business accreditation in regional conferences and seminars. Dr. Mortagy has a PhD and an MS in Industrial Engineering from Texas Tech University, USA, and a BS in Production Engineering from Cairo University. He also had over 400 hours of executive training in management/leadership offered by the American Management Association.
Dr. Moustafa Ghanem
Vice President for Research
Dr. Moustafa Ghanem is Vice President for Research at Nile University in Egypt and serves on the board of Egypt Innovate: Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC). He is also a Research Fellow at the Department of Computing, Imperial College London. Dr. Ghanem has an extensive strategic research management experience with focus on academic-industrial collaborations, technology transfer, technology-product mapping and spinout activities. He was previously the Research Director of the Imperial College spinout company InforSense Ltd, and the Founder and Co-Director of the Center for Informatics Science at Nile University. He has directed a large number of collaborative R&D projects across Europe, USA, Middle East and the Far East, worked as an R&D engineering for multinational companies including Fujitsu-ICL and as a consultant for various other companies. Dr. Ghanem holds a PhD and an MSc in high performance computing from Imperial College London and a BSc in electronics and telecommunications engineering from Cairo University. His academic research interests include large-scale informatics infrastructures; distributed data mining and text mining; grid and cloud computing middleware design and programming models and their applications in bioinformatics and other scientific applications. He has more than 70 academic papers published in these areas.
Dr. Hani Keira
Secretary General
Dr. Hani Keira is a Professional engineer with 43 years experience in Civil Engineering. Obtained his PhD (1979) in Soil Dynamics (Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada); B.Sc. Structural Eng (Ain Shams University), Diploma of Higher Studies Structural Engineering (Cairo University) and M.Sc. Soil Engaging Machinery (Carleton University). Between 1975 and 2009, worked with the 5 major International Engineering & Construction companies, RSW (Senior Geotechnical Engineer), TECSULT (Senior Geotechnical Engineer), AXOR (V.P. Engineering, Energy & International), AGRA Monenco (V.P. Asia, Africa & Europe Hydro Division), SNC-Lavalin (V.P. International, V.P. Engineering, and V.P Infrastructures) and SNC-Lavalin Egypt LLC (Senior V.P. and General Manager).
His expertise covers over 125 major projects in the fields of Structural Engineering, Ground Vehicle Mechanics, Foundations Engineering, Soil Dynamics, Earthquake Engineering, Hydraulic Structures, earth, rock-fill & concrete dams, Hydro, Nuclear, Wind and Thermal Power Plants, Transmission lines, Water Resource Management, Pipe Lines, Heavy Civil Works, Solid Waste and Mine Waste Management, mining, caverns & tunnels, highways, marine engineering and Environmental Engineering. His experience covers different phases of projects including preliminary and feasibility studies, exploration, design, construction, monitoring, Design & Build, Turnkey, BOOT and PPP projects, research, consulting, project management, engineering control and international marketing.
He was also active as Adjunct Professor in the Civil Engineering Department of Concordia University and the Mining Department of McGill University and co-supervise large number of M.Sc and Ph.D. research studies.
In September 2009, he joined Nile University (Cairo, Egypt) as Secretary General.
Dr. Keira’s expertise with universities includes teaching and research activities as a part-time professor with an active role in applied research in engineering oriented for solutions of industrial problems through the maintenance of close links between industrial requirements and modern research and technology. He is the author of several technical publications and has presented lectures and seminars at various universities and engineering institutes in Canada and abroad.
Dr. Keira’s multidisciplinary ability, diversified technical and managerial experiences, strong communication and interpersonal skills as well as his multicultural exposure have served him well on projects in USA, Mexico, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Peru, Romania, Yugoslavia (Slovenia), Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, India, Sri Lanka, China, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines and the Dominican Republic.
Dr. Hazem Ezzat
Senior Advisor to The President
Dr. Ezzat worked at the General Motors R&D center between 1970 and 2005.
He was involved in a variety of technical areas; as an independent contributor, a leader of R&D teams, an R&D executive, and an independent consultant. Areas of responsibility spanned a broad spectrum of automotive technologies, and he has consulted and lectured on technology management and business development. In addition to his responsibilities at General Motors Dr. Ezzat served as; Chief Scientist to Delphi Saginaw Steering Systems from 1994 to 1998, chief Scientist for GM’s Truck group from 1998 to 2000, Chief Scientist for GM Europe from 2000 to 2002, and Chief Scientist for the GM Powertrain Group from 2002 to 2005. In the period between January 2000 and January 2005, Dr. Ezzat also served as Director of the University of Michigan - GM Research Laboratory (USA); the University of Wisconsin-Madison - GM Research Laboratory (USA), and the Rheinisch- Westfälische Technische Hochschule - GM Research Laboratory (Aachen, Germany). Dr. Ezzat received his B.Sc degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Cairo in 1963. Later he earned an M.S. and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin in 1970. He also had over 650 classroom hours of training in technical, financial, and general management and leadership skills offered by the American Management Assoc., The Industrial Research Institute, Harvard University, The Center for Creative Leadership and the MIT Sloan school of business.
